How to Use Jule EV Chargers

Step 1 - Plug In

Select either CCS or CHAdeMO connector type and plug into vehicle.

Step 2 - Select Speed

Select charging speed from 3 options. Our dynamic tiered pricing will adjust price based on achieved charging speed.

Step 3 - Simple Payment

Tap, swipe, or insert on payment terminal located on charger for payment authorization. We accept Debit, Visa, Mastercard, as well as Apple and Google Pay. No mobile app needed!

Step 4 - End Session

Select end session, view charge summary and request e-receipt via e-mail. Return connector and kindly share your experience on PlugShare!

What is this unrecognized charge on my credit card/bank account?

Each time a charge session is initiated, our payment processor NAYAX, will place a preauthorization hold onto the payment method selected. This is usually in a flat upfront amount to ensure enough funds are available for the session. This is a pending charge and will not be charged to your account.

Depending on your banking provider processing policy, this pending charge may remain in your account for up to 6 business days. If any charges remain after this time, please forward your session details to for assistance.

Why am I not charging at the selected speed tier?

Charging speed may vary due to several factors. We prioritize delivering the speed your vehicle requests, but it can be lower due to compatibility or hardware issues at the station. To optimize your charging experience, we recommend using your vehicle's pre-conditioning features before arriving at the station, especially if it's cold. Charging at a lower state of charge (SoC), around 20%, can help maximize speed. Keep in mind that charging speed will naturally slow down as you approach 80% to preserve your battery's health.

If you are concerned about paying for the higher price tier, rest assured as the per minute rate will be adjusted at the end of your session based on the highest speed received.

How do I start a charging session?
  • To get started, connect your electric vehicle to our level 3 charging station using the CCS or CHAdeMO connector. Each charger is equipped with both connectors to accommodate a range of EV models. Teslas will require a separate adapter, which are not provided at the station. You will need to bring your own.
  • Once your vehicle is connected, follow the instructions on the charger where you'll be guided by our interactive screen to select a charging speed. Remember that actual charging speed can vary depending on several factors including your vehicle's capabilities, its current state of charge, and the ambient temperatures.
  • After selecting your charging speed, you can make payment on the terminal located below the screen. We accept Visa, Mastercard, as well as Apple and Google Pay. You can tap, swipe, or insert your card to authorize a payment, which will be settled at the end of the session. Now, just relax and enjoy your charging experience!
Will my vehicle be compatible?

Jule Chargers support Level 3 DC Fast Charging and are designed to support a variety of EV models which use both CCS or CHAdeMO connectors.

Hybrid Vehicles typically use a Level 2 J1772 connector which is not compatible with Level 3 DC Fast Chargers.

For Tesla owners, the level 2 J1772 adapter supplied with all Tesla vehicles, is not supported at our stations. A CCS or CHAdeMO adapter can be purchased through Tesla or Amazon which are supported on Jule chargers. Please note that Tesla vehicles require that the CCS adapter feature is enabled on the vehicle. This feature can be accessed through the vehicle navigation screen by selecting the Software Tab (found on the bottom left of the screen) and selecting "Additional Vehicle Information" to check of the feature is enabled.

*Note: Always double-check your vehicle's compatibility, capability, and limitations with charging stations to ensure a seamless charging experience.

Do I need an account?

You do not need to create any account.  Currently, our stations take payment by card on the payment terminal. You can tap, swipe, or insert your Visa, Debit, or Mastercard (including Google an Apply Pay) card to authorize a payment.

How much will a charging session cost?

You will see a pre-authorization on your card, which is a temporary hold that will reverse. This usually happens quickly, but it does depend on the banks and can take up to five business days at most. The cost of charging will appear on the interactive screen. At many of our stations, you can select your charging speed and the associated dollar amount. Keep in mind, we will only provide what your vehicle is demanding. If this is lower than the selected amount, then the charge will be reduced to the appropriate tier. You can select “session details” to see where you are at in terms of charge and you will have the option to get a receipt once your session has finished.

How do I find a spot to charge?

When you arrive at one of our stations, you will be able to see the stations that are operational. All you need to do is follow the instructions, plug in your vehicle, make payment, and start the charge.

What is eco power mode?

To alleviate strain on Ontario's power grid, Jule temporarily reduces our stations' charging capacity which typically occurs on days with extreme weather events. This means you are still able to charge your vehicle, but service will be significantly limited throughout the day and possibly unavailable during the afternoon/evening.
